ATRIP TO THE OBSERVATORY

In February 2007 The Society for Popular Astronomy had a visit to Mill Hill Observatory. I was very lucky to be part of the visiting group.

We had a tour of the facilities and shown an episode from a DVD called Hubble 15 years of discovery. This is available from

SPACE TELESCOPE ORG

We began our visit with a look at the Radcliffe 60/45-cm refractor. This is fitted with a large format CCD camera

We then continued our tour with a visit to the Fry refractor, this is a superb 20-cm refractor built by the celebrated firm of Thomas Cooke and Sons it is extremely well suited for planetary and solar viewing.
