If You are new to the fascinating hobby of Astronomy, please take time to learn your way around the night sky. Take a look at the beginners guide. See the link on the Left. (This guide is constantly being updated.

The best advice I can give is to find a local Astronomical Society, where you will meet like-midned people. If you live in the United Kingdom please e-mail me  and I will be only to pleased to help you find a local society. paulm@paulsastronomy.co.uk
Also have a read of a good Astronomy magazine such as Astronomy Now www.astronomynow.com or Sky and Scope www.skyandtelescope.com
all available from any good newsagent.

SOCIETY FOR POPULAR ASTRONOMY.
A lot of the members of my Society are also members of the Society For Popular Astronomy. Please have a look at their site

SPA meetings are held on the last Saturday of January, April, July and October at the Khalili/G2 Lecture Theatre of the School of Oriental and African Studies. When you leave Russell Square station, turn left and cross the road straight away. SOAS is on the far corner of Russell Square. Use the entrance marked, opposite the Brunei Gallery

Meetings start at 2.00pm and last until about 5.00pm, including a break for refreshments. The first section is generally taken up by a talk from a guest speaker, the second has shorter items on current astronomical events, and reports from sections. Members and friends are welcome. Members should remember to bring their membership cards or a copy of Popular Astronomy.
